It’s easy to prepare your house for a cruise – pay the natural gas bill, get a dog watcher and stop the newspapers. But what about preparing your body for a cruise? If you’ve never been on a cruise, particularly, the mode of transportation can be a shock to the system – here are a few ways to get ready:
Visit Your Doctor – Head to your family physician to get shots for all the exotic ports you’ll be visiting weeks ahead of time. Also speak candidly about your propensity towards motion sickness and ask your doctor to prescribe a motion medication to help you in case things take a turn for the worse.
Get Hydrated – Be sure to keep hydrated from step one – from the plane ride to your docking city all the way through the end of the cruise. With tons of food, sun and usually alcohol, too, be sure you’ve got a belly full of water at all times to stave off all kinds of traveller’s diseases.
Get a Tan – Depending on your cruise destination try to get a bit of a base tan before you head out. That doesn’t mean tanning beds and beach trips more like a trip around the block with no hate – you’ll avoid getting burned badly the first day of your cruise.
